- Looks like TMCP-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Internet

Install
Turn on Tally's connector
In Tally: F1: Help → Settings → Connectivity → Client/Server configuration. Set TallyPrime acts as: Both and Port: 9000, then press Ctrl+A to save.
Check it worked: open http://localhost:9000 in a browser — you should see "TallyPrime Server is Running".
Install the AI app you'll use
Install whichever you prefer — Claude Desktop (claude.ai/download, Pro or Max plan), Google Antigravity, Cursor, or Windsurf — and sign in. TallyMCP plugs into any of them, and the installer wires the connection for you (no JSON to edit).
Run the TallyMCP installer, pick your app(s) & paste your key
Download and run the installer. It asks which AI app(s) you use — tick every one (you can add more later) — and for your license key from your email. It copies the app and wires each app you picked automatically.
Connect your AI app
Tick every app you want to use TallyMCP from.
Open the TallyMCP app, then restart your AI app
After install, the TallyMCP control panel opens — your home base. It shows your version, your license (name, email, status), which AI apps are connected, and one-click buttons to connect more, manage your subscription, or install the advanced-PDF engine.
Now close and reopen your AI app so it picks up TallyMCP. In Claude, click the + in the message box to confirm TallyMCP is connected — all 128 tools ready. (Not there? Fully quit and reopen; or just ask "list my Tally ledgers" — if it answers, it's connected.)
Run it
Open a new chat in your AI app with Tally running, and just ask. TallyMCP confirms before anything that changes your books and logs every change.
Good first asks: List my ledgers · Show June's day book · Read this bank statement PDF and reconcile it · Extract these invoices and post the matching ones · Import these vouchers from this Excel
Updates — one click, fully visible
Nothing installs behind your back. TallyMCP checks for updates on its own, but applying one is always something you choose to do:
- On your next restart, your AI app just mentions a new version is available — nothing downloads or installs on its own.
- Open the TallyMCP app and click Download & Install under Version & updates — you'll see real download progress, not a spinner.
- TallyMCP closes itself to finish installing, then reopens on its own once it's done — that's your sign to restart your AI app(s).
What it can do
Talk to your books
- Read ledgers, balances, day book, registers, outstandings, stock — in plain English
- 128 tools across every master & voucher type
Read PDFs → post to Tally
- Bank statements (any bank), invoices, scanned images (OCR), Bills of Entry
- Extracts, reconciles & posts as vouchers — advanced invoice/OCR engine installs one-click
Create & edit
- Full CRUD on ledgers, groups, stock items, cost centres, units
- Sales, purchase, payment, receipt, journal, debit/credit notes, orders
Bulk & fast
- Import thousands of vouchers/ledgers from CSV / Excel / JSON
- ~1,000 vouchers in ~22 seconds
GST & TDS
- B2B sales land in GSTR-1 with CGST/SGST/IGST split, bill-wise
- TDS deductions land in Form 26Q
Reconciliation
- Compare Tally vs any Excel/CSV — match by invoice, bill ref, amount, date
- Flags missing, extra, duplicate & amount mismatches
Reports & exports
- Trial balance, P&L, balance sheet, registers, outstandings, stock
- Exported to Excel / CSV on demand
What it can't do (yet)
We'd rather you know the edges up front.
Built and tested on Tally Prime 7 for Windows. Other editions/older versions may behave differently; no macOS/Linux Tally.
Works on whichever company is open in Tally. Switching companies happens in Tally (F3), not by asking the AI.
It populates GSTR-1 and Form 26Q inside Tally for you to review and file there. It doesn't submit returns to the portal.
At thousands-of-rows scale, match by amount, date, voucher no., and bill reference. GSTIN, HSN, item, quantity and per-line tax split aren't in Tally's bulk exports, so they can't be matched in bulk.
Each license runs on one PC at a time. Moving to a new machine is self-serve — activate there and choose "move my license," and the old PC signs out automatically (a few moves a month).
The company must be open in Tally, and you need internet for the AI and the license check.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| No tools respond / "can't reach Tally" | Make sure Tally is running with a company open and the connector is on (Step 1). Test http://localhost:9000. On a different port? Tell TallyMCP (set TALLY_PORT or mention it in chat). |
| TallyMCP isn't in your AI app's tools | Fully quit and reopen the app, then open a new chat and check again. Or open the TallyMCP app and use Connect to (re-)wire it. You can also just ask "list my Tally ledgers" — if it answers, it's connected. |
| "Activate TallyMCP" / subscription message | Open the TallyMCP app and paste your key (or Move license here if it's active on another PC). If billing lapsed, use Manage subscription. The server stays connected and tells you exactly what's needed. |
| Invoices won't extract ("Install advanced PDF") | Bank statements work out of the box; invoices/OCR need the advanced engine. Open the TallyMCP app → Install advanced PDF (one-click; add GPU if you have an NVIDIA card), then retry. |
| Deletes/edits silently do nothing | In Tally, Import → F12 → set "Overwrite voucher with same GUID" to Yes. |
| "License already active on another computer" | Just activate here — in the TallyMCP app choose "Move my license to this PC". The old computer is signed out automatically on its next launch. (One PC at a time; a few moves a month.) |
